Gloria is a performer, poet, and Spanish Interpreter with many years of experience working at heritage sites including the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, and Dover Castle telling truth and fiction in English and Spanish.
Her poetry has been published in Belleville Park Pages, Bluebee Magazine, and Inc Zine and online in Disclaimer Magazine and Annexe Magazine. Performances include the Poetry Cafe, LeeFest, and StandUp Tragedy. Poetry projects include a collaboration, Scritch, with Vera Chok and Serena Braida and a collection of poems from her time in Seville, Black Garlic, Melon Heart. She recently collaborated with composer and musician Alexis Bennett on the audio-poem 'Epistles from Gaia'.
She is an Actor/Liar with the live fiction night Liars’ League, one of The Guardian's 10 Great Storytelling Nights.
Past theatre work includes The Clock, with Hide and Seek Theatre - a one woman show about shadows, fear, and secrets “ . .the characters are made distinct through Sanders’ clever mannerisms and changes in voice . .” – Sophie Lieven, One Stop Arts.
For Cabinets of Curiosity she directed Sarah Blake’s adaptation of Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own – “Blake inhabits Woolf, seeming to capture every student in her audience with her gimlet eye, daring us to disagree with her” – Caroline Crampton, New Statesman. Gloria also voiced the Bellarmine and Thimble for the audio version of Sarah Blake's 'Found', available to listen to below.
She has trained in Historic Fool, and Clown and Bouffon with Philippe Gaulier, Angela de Castro, Peter Cooper, and Stephen Sobal. She performed at Whitby Abbey for the recent summer seasons of Time Will Tell's Dracula and Captain Cook.
She is an experienced audiobook narrator, having narrated over 20 audiobooks to date for the RNIB, Harper Collins and Boldwood Books among others. Recently Gloria narrated the #1 bestselling audiobook 'The Secret Midwife'.
Gloria is also a qualified Community Interpreter (Level 3) working in English and Spanish. She collaborated with Crowded Room throughout 2020 on the co-created commission 'La Lucha' transcribing and translating over 100,000 words in English and Spanish for the project.
